European Union Will Support Transparent Election, Fraud Prevention and Voter Registration

The Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah today met with Franz-Michael Skjold Mellbin, European Union Special Representative in Afghanistan at the Sepidar palace.

Elections and electoral reforms, latest political developments in Afghanistan as well as results of Mr. Mellbin’s recent visit to Pakistan were discussed at the meeting.

The Chief Executive once again noted of his commitment to implementation of electoral reforms and promised that the National Unity Government is committed to providing the ground for holding a transparent, safe and nationwide election.

European Union Special Representative also stressed that European Union would support transparent election, fraud prevention and voter registration in certain polling centers.

Both sides emphasized on Afghanistan and Pakistan’s cooperation to fight terrorism and develop economic relations between the two countries.
