A New Page in Relationship between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan is Opened

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met on Thursday with Uzbekistan Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Komilov and his accompanying delegation in his office at the Sepidar Palace.

The Chief Executive welcomed Mr. Komilov and his delegation, and expressed satisfaction with improvement and expansion of the relations between the two countries. The Chief Executive appreciated the efforts made by Uzbekistan's new leadership in this regard, adding that a new page in relationship between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan is opened.

Mr. Komilov, thanking the Afghan government for its warm welcome, called the positive development in the two countries' relations in favor of prosperity, peace and settlement in the region.

Mr. Komilov added that his country is ready to play an active role in ensuring peace in Afghanistan.

Welcoming Uzbekistan’s plan, the Chief Executive praised every effort to achieve peace and stability.

The meeting also focused on regional, economic, and joint academic-cultural cooperation between the two countries.
