The Chief Executive in a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs: We Welcome Development of Trade Exchanges between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met with Mr. Abdulaziz Kamilov Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan in his office at the Sepidar Palace.

At the meeting, the Chief Executive welcomed Uzbek Minister of Foreign Affairs to Kabul and said, “We welcome expansion and development of relations between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.” Calling Uzbekistan an old friend and partner of Afghanistan, the Chief Executive expressed hope that the two countries, making use of existing opportunities, improve the regional situation and make efforts to establish peace and stability.

Thanking the Chief Executive, Mr. Kamilov announced development and increase of trade exchanges between the two countries, and emphasized that his country is ready to continue its cooperation with Afghanistan. Mr. Kamilov called peace and stability in Afghanistan in favor of the region and the two countries. He also informed of a regional summit on economic cooperation in Samarqand along with participation of India and urged Afghanistan to attend the summit.

At the meeting, both sides discussed peace talks, regional efforts in this regard and major infrastructure projects. Appreciating regional and neighboring countries’ efforts, the Chief Executive emphasized on principle of peace talks owned and led by the government and the people of Afghanistan.
