The Chief Executive Meets with New Commander of NATO Forces in Afghanistan

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of the National Unity Government met today with Mr. Scott Miller, new commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan in his office at the Sepidar Palace.

In the meeting, the Chief Executive, while congratulating the new head of American and NATO's command in Afghanistan, wished him success in his new role.

Also, Dr. Abdullah expressed gratitude to services and efforts of Gen. John Nicholson, the former commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan for fighting against terrorism and cooperation with the Afghan armed forces.

In the meeting, Gen. Miller repeated his country and NATO’s commitment and cooperation with the Afghan security forces for fighting against terrorism, saying that they would not hesitate of any efforts to provide security and peace in Afghanistan.

The command of NATO forces in Afghanistan today, 2nd of September was officially handed over from Gen. John Nicholson to Gen. Scott Miller.
