The Chief Executive Meets with the Head of Iranian Red Crescent Society

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of the National Unity Government met with Dr. Ali Asghar Paivandi, Head of Iran's Red Crescent Society and his delegation in his office at the Sepidar Palace.

In the meeting, the Chief Executive welcomed Iranian delegation to Kabul and appreciated Iran’s cooperation with the people and government of Afghanistan in various fields, especially health and education.

Dr. Abdullah said, “The two countries enjoy good relations which are expected to be expanded more by signing new agreements.”

Stating that Iran has been receiving millions of the Afghan refugees for many years, the Chief Executive said, “Afghanistan is ready to provide necessary facilities for joint work of the Red Crescent Societies of Afghanistan and Iran to ensure that there is no interruption in the programs and cooperation between the two institutions.”

Then, pointing to the good neighborliness and cultural-historical relations between the two countries, Dr. Ali Asghar Paivandi said that the Red Crescent Society of Iran, as an independent institution, would be ready to establish health centers and launch educational programs for humanitarian assistance to the people of Afghanistan.

Dr. Paivandi added that the Iranian Red Crescent Society had had health centers in the provinces of Kandahar and Nimroz, but these centers had not been very active and effective. In this trip, we would work on these centers’ effective and better activities.

The Head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society emphasized that Iran would be prepared to work in the field of medical and educational services with Afghanistan, and would be in contact with the Afghan Ministry of Public Health and the Red Crescent Society.
