The Chief Executive Meets with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan

HE, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met with Bakytzhan Sagintayev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, on the sideline of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit.

At the meeting, the Chief Executive called Kazakhstan a friendly country and expressed satisfaction with the level of relations and cooperation between the two countries. The Chief Executive thanked Kazakhstan for its cooperation at regional and international level. The Chief Executive also appreciated Kazakhstan's granting scholarships for Afghan students, holding Women's Empowerment Meeting in Kazakhstan, good hosting of Afghan athletes and its financial and economic cooperation with Afghanistan. The Chief Executive emphasized on importance of signing a trilateral memorandum between Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan on boosting trade exchanges between them.

Thanking the Chief Executive, Kazakh Prime Minister assured of his country's cooperation with Afghanistan in higher education, provision of further scholarships to Afghan students as well as capacity building. Mr. Sagintayev, speaking on an increase in trade exchanges between the two countries, emphasized that work on a memorandum of understanding on transit and transfer of goods through Uzbekistan was continued. Kazakhstan's Prime Minister also expressed hope that the parliamentary and presidential elections in Afghanistan would be held in a secure atmosphere and wished the Afghan government and people success.

The two sides called terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking common threats to peace and security in the region and stressed on the need for joint cooperation between the two countries.
