The Chief Executive Meets with Prime Minister of Belarus

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met with Siarhiej Rumas, Prime Minister of Belarus, on the sideline of the Meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

Prime Minister of Belarus, thanking the Chief Executive, noted of his country’s interest in investment in Afghanistan and enhancing trade and considered the Chief Executive’s visit as a start point for building new relationship between the two countries.

Mr. Rumas added that his country was ready to help Afghanistan with infrastructures by providing heavy machinery.

Thanking the Prime Minister of Belarus, the Chief Executive considered relations between the two countries good and expressed satisfaction with his visit’s positive outcomes in expansion of relationship between the two countries. The Chief Executive added that he appointed the Afghan Minister of Economy at the head of joint commission and was waiting for Belarus to take action in order for the commission to begin its work.

Welcoming the plan of boosting economic exchanges between the two countries, the Chief Executive invited Belarusian Chamber of Commerce to visit Afghanistan to explore the opportunities of trade and investment in Afghanistan and to talk with the officials from Afghanistan's Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The Chief Executive considered participation of the Afghan businessmen at Belarus industrial-agricultural exhibition in Tajikistan a good start for trade exchanges between the two countries.

The Prime Minister of Belarus, welcoming proposal of the Chief Executive, said that he also appointed his country's Economic Minister at the head of joint commission and would send a delegation from Belarusian Chamber of Commerce to explore opportunities for trade and investment in Afghanistan.

Mr. Rumas further said that his country wanted peace and security in Afghanistan and was ready to help Afghanistan in this respect.
