Presidential Election Will be Held on Due Date

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met with John Bass, the US ambassador to Kabul at the Sepidar Palace.

At the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the latest political-military developments, holding elections, peace talks and bilateral relations between Afghanistan and the United States of America.

The Chief Executive stressed that presidential election in Afghanistan would be held on due date. The Chief Executive added that peace process and peace negotiations were a separate discussion and did not relate to holding elections. The Chief Executive also added that the Afghan government, the Election Commissions, Afghanistan’s allies, the United Nations and the international organizations, in coordination, were trying that presidential election to be held in a timely, transparent and credible manner.

Mr. John Bass, approving the Chief Executive’s words, said that his country would support holding elections in Afghanistan on due date.
