The Chief Executive, at a meeting with the UN representative: The National Unity Government is determined to fulfill its obligations

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met with Tadamichi Yamamoto, UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan on Tuesday afternoon at the Sepidar Palace.

At the meeting, the two sides spoke on the Geneva conference, which was jointly hosted by the United Nations and the Government of Afghanistan to examine the mutual commitments of the international community and Afghanistan, and evaluated it positively and successfully. The Chief Executive once again appreciated the United Nations as well as the international community’s cooperation with Afghanistan, stressing that the National Unity Government is determined to fulfill its obligations.

Then, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative, while calling the Geneva conference successful, emphasized that peace process should be led and owned by the Afghans. Mr. Yamamoto also called on the countries of the region and of the world to make use of all their capacities to facilitate the peace process.

The two sides also discussed and exchanged views on elections and the current situation in Afghanistan.
