The Netherlands Continues its Military-Economic Cooperation with Afghanistan

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, the Chief Executive of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan today met with Ms. Ank Bijleveld, Minister of Defence of the Netherlands in his office at the Sepidar Palace.

At the meeting, the Chief Executive appreciated the Netherlands' contributions and victims and welcomed Ms. Bijleveld to Afghanistan.

Thanking warm welcome of the people and the government of Afghanistan, Holland’s Minister of Defence reiterated of her country’s continued military-economic cooperation with Afghanistan in the NATO framework and Resolute Support Forces. Ms. Bijleveld expressed pleasure of progress of the Afghan Armed Forces’ capabilities and appreciated their victims in anti-terrorist struggles.

Ms. Bijleveld expressed her satisfaction with holding elections in Afghanistan and called participation of the Afghan people in the election and their standing in the long lines as a symbol of the people’s support for democracy in Afghanistan.

Peace talks, presidential election and effective ways of combating terrorism were also discussed at the meeting.

The Chief Executive called for boosting bilateral cooperation between the two countries as well as strengthening of the armed forces of the country.
