Chief Executive Meets Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister

 

Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah met with Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan at Sapedar Palace in Kabul.

At the outset, the two sides discussed trade and business relations between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan and regional cooperation.

Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister said his country is working on major joint regional projects such as TAPI (Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India Pipeline), electricity, rail and transit, and hopes that the implementation of these projects will be effective in strengthening and expanding ties between the two neighbors as well as regional connectivity.

Mr. Rashid Meredov said he was pleased with the progress in implementing these joint programs and projects.

Chief Executive Abdullah said: “Turkmenistan is one of Afghanistan's good neighbors and has always been committed to bilateral cooperation and collaboration at various points.”

The Chief Executive said Turkmenistan's seriousness in implementing joint projects reflects its commitment to expanding relations with Afghanistan and that the National Unity Government, for its part, is committed to further developing relations with Turkmenistan.

Chief Executive Abdullah reiterated that the exploitation of joint development projects between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan would not only enhance the level of economic and trade relations between the two countries but also regional cooperation.
